pruning time

The high rainfall of recent months has created a surge of growth in shrubs and hedges. Mid summer is a good time to get stuck in, especially with early-flowering shrubs. There is still enough summer (?) left for plants to recover from a good hacking back. We are well stocked with Wolf-Garten tools.

Be aware that radical pruning can result in losing a season or two of flower. But sometimes, especially this year, drastic action is needed to stop overgrowth if other plants are being choked, or if, as many of our customers are reporting, your garden is starting to feel too closed in. In a year when light levels are very low, a darkening garden doesn't help the spirits!
